Boys of Bonneville: On a Ribbon of Salt

Racing legend Ab Jenkins and his son Marv Jenkins with their record-setting "Mormon Meteor III" endurance land speed record car on Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats in 1940.

Racing Legend Ab Jenkins poses in his Pierce-Arrow endurance land speed record racer on Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats in 1933.

Documentary - In a story where 'The Right Stuff' meets George Bailey, an American family legacy of land speed emerges from the rich and riveting history of Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats. Ab Jenkins lived in more innocent times, when business deals were cemented with a handshake and race cars were designed on the backs of envelopes. With almost superhuman stamina and boyish charms, Ab broke every land speed record at Bonneville. Seventy years later, the legacy lives on in his son, Marv, and his car, which looks like something Batman might have owned. To ensure Ab's legacy, Marv, 80, determines to restore the now-dilapidated 'Meteor.' After years of painstaking labor, the 12-cylinder, 4800-pound Meteor coughs back to like. Nearby, Marv quietly fades away.
