Buffalo begins developing its historic Inner Harbor based on the theme of the Erie Canal.
Grand opening ceremonies harken back to the very day when New York Governor DeWitt Clinton 'wedded the waters' of Lake Erie and the Hudson River, opening the Erie Canal in 1825.
Buffalo's historic Canal District, once described as 'The Nostrils of Hell' is brought to life through extensive use of old photos and illustrations, and an occasional reenactment. Old Erie Canal ballads run throughout the piece, adding flavor and texture to the story.
A final salute to the past recalls the heyday of Buffalo's waterfront Memorial Auditorium.
Future plans include an exciting Weather Discovery Center, a Disney-type attraction that will recreate actual weather conditions including blizzards.
