Charlie, an earnest young man, heads for a job interview at a seemingly abandoned warehouse. Inside the dark, vast, open space, a well-dressed Man sits behind a desk, on top of which is nothing but a black phone and a small yellow wind-up duck. When the Man calls Charlie by his name, Charlie is more than a little spooked. How did he know? They did not have an appointment. The Man changes the subject, as he continues to do throughout the film. Though the topics he puts forth are increasingly bizarre (including the question of whether Charlie's ever wanted to blow anything up), the Man keeps Charlie from leaving, alternately flattering and reprimanding him. Ultimately, the Man's shocking motives are revealed.
