Has our culture
run amuck with body modification? This 20
minute comedy asks you to decide. Down in
the Mouth is a thirty-five millimeter narrative
film that takes an absurdist look at cosmetic
surgery.
All his life, Ron Dibble has
been living a uvula-challenged life. In case
you don't know, the uvula is that the thing
that hangs down at the back of your throat
-- and Ron hasn't got one! Though it seems
a small thing, he's convinced the whole world
sees him as a freak. His paranoia is heightened
by the fact that he's fallen in love with
a gorgeous brunette in his office who barely
knows he's alive. How will he ever win her
affections given his "lack of endowment?"
Like any fixation, he can't stop obsessing
over it. He tries psychiatry and mail-order
remedies but nothing seems to work. Finally
Ron turns to plastic surgery in hopes of
gaining the self-esteem he's longed for all
his life.
