As New York moves its
developmentally disabled citizens out of
institutions and into communities, new programs
are being created to teach them life skills.
'Cradle of Hope' features the progress of
twelve men who belong to Carpenter's Hand.
They help build baby cradles and then personally
deliver them to needy mothers in the greater
Buffalo, New York area. The men experience
the joy of holding newborn babies in their
arms. The era of institutionalization is
revisited along with the outrageous abuses
that finally led to social change.
